Hey there everybody, just wanted to drop in and get some opinions. As a lot of you know, I do a podcast with my lifetime best friend, and we had covered a pretty awesome topic - track cars under 10k. We had picked a FWD, AWD, and RWD each. It was more challenging than you’d think and we had some unique choices. I figured this is a crazy fun Oppo discussion, and I’d like to see what you all would’ve selected. Bear in mind this can be anythi ng and overall reliability and such isn’t as paramount.
I’m very curious to see what you come up with!
For anyone that wants to listen, go to Apple podcast, stitcher or where ever you listen to your podcasts and search for the “Powershift Media” podcast and give it a listen. The audio in this most recent episode was vastly improved, so here’s to continuing to make it even better.

The SVT Focus is an incredibly capable track car if you can find one and keep it running.

Miata or Honda Civic, Maybe an e46, pretty much anything with a giant aftermarket, accessible cost to buy into the platform, easily swapped parts and relatively inexpensive drivetrain replacements. My only concern would be oil starvation at high Gs. The important thing here is the low cost, as you’ll want lots of left over money for the ancillaries

Foxbody, 10K gets you absolutely everything and more . Complete engine overhaul, bracing and cage, suspension upgrades (IRS included), disc brake conversion to 31 spline axles. You get the total catalogue of any upgrades you want . An endless sea of aftermarket at reasonable prices and parts interchangeability everywhere . You have series dedicated to the cars and you get one of the best sounding V8s on top of it all.

C4s can be had for stupid cheap, can be fixed with a hammer, and are great handlers.
